Concepts of the apocalypse frequently find their way into art and media. Generally speaking, in popular culture, the apocalypse refers to the end of the world (or the end of the world as we know it), although the actual implications of the word apocalypse refers to an “unveiling” or “uncovering”, leading to some revelation, and there is significant religious context to the concept of the apocalypse.
The motifs and ideas that the apocalypse brings are usually quite dramatic, involving widespread death and destruction, fundamental changes to the environment and widespread social upheaval or disintegration.
